Below is a press release from the Mississippi Department of Transportation:
The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) will host its annual Trash Bash events from March 17 through May 12, 2022.
MDOT, in partnership with Keep Mississippi Beautiful, is hosting Trash Bash events across the state as part of the national Great American Cleanup campaign. Trash Bash is MDOT’s oldest event and has been around since 1989.
Trash Bash draws public attention to the negative impact of trash on the roadway by allowing MDOT employees to take time off from their normal duties for a day to pick up trash in highly visible areas. MDOT employees hope to set a good example by participating in this community event.
“MDOT spends nearly four million dollars a year picking up trash,” said MDOT Executive Director Brad White. “Please make sure you dispose of your trash properly to keep Mississippi’s highways and highways trash-free.”
This year’s Jackson Trash Bash will take place on Thursday, March 24. Volunteers will pick up trash on State Route 25 in Rankin County.
Below are other Trash Bash events being held in various MDOT districts around the state.
