Rocky Mountain Development Council offers a monthly education course for home buyers. The purpose of the class is to teach potential homeowners the process of buying a home. The October Session is a one-day in-person event on Saturday, October 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rocky’s Neighborhood Center, located at 200 South Cruse Avenue, Helena, MT 59601.
Education and counseling for home buyers includes a one-on-one counseling session followed by an eight-hour course covering the intricacies of buying a home. It is designed for both first-time home buyers and regular buyers.
Homebuyer training courses provide in-depth information on many aspects of homeownership, including budgeting, finding a home, choosing a lender / taking out a loan, homeowner’s insurance, home inspection and maintenance, and energy savings. The course includes local lecturers with expertise in finance, insurance, property inspection and real estate.
The course is led by Beverly Dashnaw. Beverly is an accomplished financial services professional with a range of experience ranging from consumer loans and real estate finance to professional consumer credit restructuring services. She is a HUD and Neighborworks America Certified Housing Advisor, who has served on the United Way Board of Directors and volunteered with Girl Scouts of America, Faith House Women’s Shelter, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Beverly understands the financial landscape of consumers, the issues Americans face every day, and strives to help people set and achieve their financial goals.
Homebuyer Education will also be offered in a three-day virtual format in November and December. These virtual formats are scheduled from Tuesday November 16 to Thursday November 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from Tuesday December 7 to Thursday December 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
